DIY Pumpkin Beauty Recipes

The best thing about fall? The unmistakable scent of pumpkin, cider and cinnamon at almost every turn. Our tastebuds get plenty of delectable pumpkin action this time of year – but what about the rest of us? Our skin and hair are screaming for moisture and nourishment in this colder, dryer weather. Treat them with these do-it-yourself at-home pumpkin beauty treatments:

Pumpkin Hair Mask:
Makes approx. 4 treatments, depending on hair length

  • 1 can of pumpkin puree
  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp honey

Mix all ingredients together with a whisk or egg beater until it has the consistency of hair conditioner. If necessary, add extra pumpkin puree to thicken mixture.

Apply mask to damp hair, starting at the ends and working your way to the roots. Leave in for 20-30 minutes before rinsing. Shampoo and condition as usual.

Freeze remaining mixture in individual ziplock bags. Thaw to room temperature before using.

Pumpkin Sugar Scrub:

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp  pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil

Mix sugar and spices together with wooden spoon. Slowly mix in coconut oil. Add extra oil is mixture seems too dry. Store in a tight container for up to 8 weeks.
